Once the Imam is quoted to have narrated from the well-known Shiite mystic the late Shahabadi that: “At the time of death, Satan tries hard to distract human beings from invoking the remembrance of God by bringing into his view those things that he is deeply fond of.” Perhaps it was for this reason that although he was extremely fond of his grandson Ali (son of Hajj Ahmad Aqa), yet three days before his death, he had said: “Ali should not come here.”
The Imam was constantly murmuring invocations. On one occasion when he had just regained consciousness, his blessed lips were seen to be quivering. When the physician brought his ears close to the Imam’s lips, he heard the Imam murmur the invocation of ‘Allah-o-Akbar’ (God is greater)—and he also departed from this world in the same state of invoking the Name of God.
